Helena River Catchment Group (HRCG) was founded in May 1997 with the aim of promoting and facilitating biodiversity conservation within the Helena River Catchment. This includes the management of land, including native vegetation, as well as water quality within the river itself.
HRCG works by lobbying, contributing to committees and working groups, acting as liaison point for ‘Friends’ groups, developing partnerships with other organisations and directly undertaking on-ground work.
HRCG has a core of dedicated committee members, backed up by various friends and associates who are called on for advice or labour when required.
We are active throughout the Catchment although most of our on-ground projects centre around Mundaring, Glen Forrest, Darlington, Boya, Helena Valley, Bushmead, Gooseberry Hill, Maida Vale and Koongamia.
In our more than 25 years of operation, we have been involved in numerous planning issues including initating the State Government’s Middle Helena Land Use and Water Planning Study that directly led to the Middle Helena Land Use and Water Management Strategy published in June 2010.
Helena River Catchment Group is undergoing a revitalisation and re-imagining right now so join us and be part of a progressive and evolving landcare cooperative today!
